Interviews are used for direct questioning of subjects, whether it be for research or for gathering information that is more easily obtained than in a survey. There are different types of interviews that can be used to gather quantitative, qualitative or a mixture or both kinds of data. This data collection can be done in person, over the phone or over video chat. Interviews gather even greater insight because they are a one on one experience. They are most often used when the assessors would like to know the individual’s perceptions, reactions as well as to establish personal contact with the participant. This could even be an interview after a survey was sent out, and be used as a follow up tool to dig even deeper into their answers and findings.
