Welcome Back to Campus Study Abroad Students – Important Updates and Welcome Back Reception!
Welcome back! We hope your study abroad experience this fall was enriching and unforgettable. As you return to campus for the spring semester, we want to help you ease back into life at Wake Forest and ensure you have all the information you need to stay safe, healthy and connected.
Reacclimating to Campus
You’ve spent the past semester living and learning in a new culture and environment, stretching you to adjust your lifestyle in perhaps remarkable ways. Returning to campus can sometimes feel more difficult than expected. You may notice that you or your friends have changed or see things a bit differently now. Even life back in the United States may feel unfamiliar or distant after your time studying abroad. It’s ok to give yourself some time to adjust and explore the world with a new perspective. If you’re feeling uncertain, it might help to talk with friends who studied abroad and had a similar experience or connect with a trusted faculty or staff member for support.
Support for Your Wellbeing
Transitioning back to campus life can bring a mix of emotions, but remember, you’re not alone. There are many resources available to support your physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. Whether you’re looking for counseling services, wellness workshops or simply a place to relax and unwind, Wake Forest offers a variety of programs to help you succeed. Be sure to explore resources such as the Office of Wellbeing, University Counseling Center and Campus Recreation for activities and support throughout the semester. And if you are ever in need of help, don’t hesitate to reach out—call 336-758-CARE (2273) to take that first step. Remember, no matter where you are in your journey, you’re never alone. We Are Wake, and we’re here to help you thrive!
Staying Safe at Wake Forest
Your safety is our priority. As you readjust to life on campus, it’s important to familiarize yourself with the ways we communicate during emergencies. We encourage you to review the emergency communication procedures here so you’re prepared in case of an urgent situation. WakeAlert and the WakeSafe app allow the University to quickly disseminate important safety information and instructions to the entire campus community. Downloading the WakeSafe app and keeping contact information up-to-date are key actions for staying informed in an emergency.
Welcome Back Reception – Monday, Jan. 13
Campus Life and Global Abroad would also like to invite you to the Welcome Back Reception on Monday, Jan. 13, at 4 p.m. in the Green Room, Reynolda Hall. This casual event is a great opportunity to reconnect with friends, faculty, and staff as we kick off the new semester.
We look forward to hearing your stories about what you learned or something new you tried as we welcome you back and celebrate the start of a new semester at Wake Forest!
RSVP is encouraged but not required.
If you have any questions or need assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out to Jessica Francis at francij@wfu.edu. We recognize that transitioning back to campus is different for every student, and our goal is that your transition home is as seamless as possible. Wishing you a safe and happy return to campus!
