Thrive Leaf Graphic

There are eight sides to this story.

In the Wake Forest tradition of educating the whole person, we are committed to sustaining a multidimensional culture of health and wellbeing that will benefit our students long after they leave the Forest.

Wellbeing is about much more than physical health. Here, it’s an eight-dimensional balancing act that – when maintained properly – leaves us best able to cope with adversity through resilience, build rewarding relationships and live with a sense of purpose. Thrive is a campus-wide initiative—owned by every member of the Wake Forest University community, giving you the skills, knowledge, and perspective to maintain a healthy, balanced life – wherever life may take you.

Our Health & Wellbeing Departments

How you take care of yourself matters. We can help! Recognized as a national leader in the field of health and wellbeing, our university has strategically aligned specific departments of Campus Life to engage our community in comprehensive, inclusive health and wellbeing practices and community care to help our students thrive. Looking for a resource? You can start here.

Deacon Health

Deacon Health is Wake Forest University’s on-campus medical facility. DH helps students stay healthy by providing an array of services such as standard doctor’s visits, flu shots, HIV and STI testing, X-rays, and more. In addition to the Clinic, Deacon Health also provides a pharmacy and laboratory.

The Safe Office provides confidential crisis response, ongoing support, and prevention services to Reynolda Campus students for concerns related to interpersonal violence, including sexual misconduct, relationship violence, and stalking.

For urgent matters, the Help Line can be reached 24/7 during the academic year at 336.758.5285.

Wake Forest requires health insurance for all full-time enrolled students. Students must elect to either enroll in the insurance program or request to waive enrollment if they carry comparable personal health insurance meeting the criteria set by WFU.

University Counseling Center

The University Counseling Center provides a range of essential mental health services to address a broad range of personal and interpersonal issues. The Counseling Center offers outreach programs and consultation to students, faculty and staff as well as referrals for off-campus mental health providers.

For mental health emergencies outside business hours, the counselor on call can be reached 24/7/365 by calling the University Counseling Center at 336.758.5273.

We Are Wake

WE is about understanding what distress looks like in the Wake Forest community, knowing when and where to find help, and learning effective responses when mental health concerns arise.
